About Yaya Tea Chapel Hill
Originally established and crafted in Downtown New York in 2008, Yaya Tea continues to expand throughout the East Coast. We're famously known for our homemade onigiri, bubble tea, Japanese inspired cuisines, and variety of Asian snacks. We hope you can join us on your break for a quick bite!
Located at 157 E Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC 27514, Yaya Tea Chapel Hill operates as a restaurant serving Chapel Hill in North Carolina. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under asian restaurant, cafe, coffee shop, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.
This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 amβ8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (919) 914-6302. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, yayatea.com.

I usually go to the Durham location, and was very disappointed by my experience at the Chapel Hill Location. There was only 1 other customer when we walked in, so they definitely weren't busy. We were not greeted or acknowledged when we walked in, or at any point during service by either of the 2 young ladies behind the counter. The only time either spoke to us was to call the order name. We ordered at the kiosk and it took 20+ minutes to get the single rice ball, seaweed salad, and fruit tea we ordered. At no point during the time we were waiting did anyone ever acknowledge our existence. The counters were sticky and dirty. I will definitely be going to the Durham location instead of this one from now on.

I ordered three rice balls from this store. Here is what they have done, no apologies, no refund, and no substitution. I got money back by contacting uber, but this is not how it works. This is NOT how you run a business.

Yikes. This taste nothing like the original Yaya's tea. It's so water downed and it lacks flavor. I was so excited to see a Yaya Tea here but was incredibly disappointed. I ordered my usual, Large Boyfriend with Mango & Lychee Jelly. π

Love their boba ! Better than the other boba place. Got an iced Thai tea boba, I ordered full sweetnesss but was left wanting :( my boyfriend got a hot Thai tea boba and was a lot sweeter We shared a Large chicken triangle onigiri with spicy mayo inside- so delicious and reasonably priced for what you get! Perfect size for a shareable snack

Yaya tea is probably the best boba place on Franklin Street! The boba tastes amazing at a great price, and the atmosphere is very comforting. There is a lot of cute merch on display for sale. Yaya tea also sells food, and I have doordashed the rice balls multiple times. The rice balls taste amazing, and have cute packaging with adorable stickers I always save! The overall aesthetics are super cute, and it is very convenient ordering in store with the computerized machine or with the friendly workers. Highly recommend the Spam RB or making your own boba drink, as the drinks are very customizable!
